Position: Summer Soccer Coordinator

The SJSC has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Summer Grassroots Program Coordinator who enjoys finding solutions, and innovating for complex problems. The Saint John Soccer Club is a fast-paced environment and is looking for someone who thrives with the challenges and novelty of handling the day-to-day operations. In this Program Coordinator role, you will perform various administrative duties, be the primary contact for customers and site contacts, and keep the office and team organized (be it inventory, office supplies, or calling others up).

Position Overview: 

The Program Coordinator joins a small leadership team of highly dedicated and committed individuals seeking to deliver an excellent program and service in the community. The PC manages customer service, office operations, plays a key role in marketing efforts and coaches as needed. This position “sets the tone” for all parent and community interactions and requires diplomacy, problem solving, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.

In addition, we are seeking an individual who desires to improve and grow the Saint John Soccer Club and who desires advancement opportunities and responsibilities within the club.

Operations & Administration:

  • Scheduling two program seasons; summer and fall and preparing all materials to promote each season.

  • Maintaining the master instructor schedule, handling cancellations and reschedules.

  • Help prepare seasonal marketing items and promotions.

  • Prepares and assembles participant certificates and prizes.

  • Assists in equipment-set preparation, distribution, and collection.

  • Assesses inventory of equipment, prizes, and supplies and submits necessary orders.

  • Primary contact for club directors and parents.

  • Customer Service (answering phone calls, emails in a timely manner).

  • Collecting, organizing and filing of required signed paperwork for all staff and maintaining accurate and complete staff files.

  • Assists in staff events, including routine meetings as well as special events.

  • Assisting in new coach orientation, reviewing policies and paperwork with new coaches.

  • Help implement and improve administrative procedures.

  • Outgoing communications with parents, directors, and other representatives.

  • Responsible for planning and representing the SJSC at community events, Jamboree Days, camps etc.


  • Able to coach 3-4 sessions per week and sub as needed (we provide internal training!)


  • Must be able to start work May 23rd, 2022..

  • Candidates must be a full-time student (high school – grade 12 only, university or college) in the current academic year of 2021/2022, and be attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2022 (university or college).

  • Must have their own transportation, as daily visits to different site locations is required.

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated professionalism.

  • Be trustworthy, with the ability to work with no immediate supervision.

  • Have soccer experience.

  • Be Teachable.

  • Working knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office Suite of products.

Hours: The job description above is a full-time position requiring 35- 40 hours of work per week. Hours will fluctuate, however the primary hours will be Monday through Thursday, 12pm to 8pm, and Friday, 1pm to 4pm. During busy seasons, it may be necessary to work additional hours, including some weekday mornings and some weekends.

Duration: 12 weeks

Carefully constructed with the support of consultant Rick Adams, Board Members, membership feedback, and extensive research, this plan outlines what we will be aiming to achieve as a club between now and 2025.

This plan will guide Staff and Board members in the planning and decision-making process to ensure we are transparent, accountable, and able to effectively communicate our Vision; To be the most innovative and inclusive soccer club in Atlantic Canada.

Our new plan stems from our core values of CARE: community, accountability, respect, and enjoyment.

To achieve our mission and maintain our core values the growth of the club will rely on the following pillars:

  • Finance and Infrastructure
  • Community and Communications

These pillars will include targets and action items that will grow our club and help us develop all of our players from Grassroots to Competitive to new heights while partnering and building strong relationships within the community.

Sirens take home fall trophy

On a dark and stormy night, two teams came together for a fall championship game. After regular time the Sirens and Rupert FC were stuck in a 1:1 tie. The two teams then lined up to take turns shooting from the penalty spot. It took 8 shots each before a champion emerged with 2 goals....

Matthew Harquail signs with UNBSJ

From Rothesay, NB and a St. Malachy’s Memorial High graduate, Matthew is a high honors student and played on the Varsity soccer team.
